There are more than 116,000 Australians experiencing homelessness. Alarmingly, approximately 60,000 of these are under the age of 35, and more than 17,000 are children under the age of 12 who don’t have a stable place to call home.
The face of homelessness in Australia has changed. Across New South Wales, the high cost of living, stagnant wages and unsteady jobs can push anyone into crisis.
Your support is vital in helping us provide essential care and programs to those in our community who need it the most.
Why we need your support
Dubbo St Vincent de Paul Society members work hard to assist the most vulnerable in our community who need it the most.
We support those in our local area including people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, fleeing domestic violence and people exiting correction centres with accommodation and other forms of assistance. We support many vulnerable people and families with food parcels, clothing and other assistance. In the past year alone, we have given a hand up to over 1300 people in our area at a cost of approximately $100,000.
It is critical that we provide people experiencing homelessness and those at risk of homelessness with the support to rebuild their lives and reconnect with community. It is also more important than ever that we prevent homelessness from occurring in the first place.
