There are more than 116,000 Australians experiencing homelessness. Alarmingly, approximately 60,000 of these are under the age of 35, and more than 17,000 children under the age of 12 don’t have a stable place to call home.

The face of homelessness in Australia has changed. Across New South Wales, the high cost of living, stagnant wages and unsteady jobs can push anyone into crisis. Many families living on the edge are only a few pay packets away from homelessness, and the majority of people experiencing homelessness are in the prime of their lives.

Your support is vital in helping us provide essential care and programs to those in our community who need it the most.

Why we need your support

On any given night in Western Sydney, some 45.7% of households are in housing stress, placing them at significant risk of falling into homelessness.

Homelessness and disadvantage affect large numbers of people right across Western Sydney and it doesn’t discriminate.

It is critical that we provide people experiencing homelessness and those at risk of homelessness with the support to rebuild their lives and reconnect with the community. It is also more important than ever that we prevent homelessness from occurring in the first place.

How can you help

The Western Sydney Vinnies Community Sleepout is a night for local community members, corporate partners, sports personalities and government representatives to band together to support the work of Vinnies Western Sydney in helping those at risk of homelessness.

You can contribute by sleeping out for a night and raising vital funds for our programs across the Western Sydney region.

This year, our fundraising goal is $80,000 and will be shared across our programs, including the Vinnies Community Hubs, which provide advocacy and advice for those in need; our Vinnies Conferences, which provide emergency relief and compassion to those doing it tough in our community; and to Social Justice activities in Western Sydney.
